Greenkeeping Excellence Project

At Greenmaster, we are about to undertake a major project which aims to show clubs how they can have the very highest standards of outdoors bowls playing surface.

We are looking for 25 clubs in Central Scotland to take part in our GREENKEEPING EXCELLENCE PROJECT. This is a 3 year project where we will take greens that are currently under-performing or have specific problems and apply a scientifically measured program to bring the greens up to TOURNAMENT standard as quickly as possible and maintain them at that level.

This will be the most ambitious greenkeeping project ever undertaken in Scottish Bowls and promises to turn out some fantastic results and a great deal of learning for greenkeepers and clubs alike. It is quite possible that this project will change the face of bowling green maintenance in Scotland forever.

How do I take part?

To qualify as a participating club you must satisfy the following criteria:

1. You have a green that is under-performing or has problems.
2. Your club is committed to change and will follow all recommendations.
3. You agree to allow all recommended work to be carried out by Greenmaster at the times specified by Greenmaster.
4. Your club is in one of the following SBA Districts: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 24(some restrictions apply), 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32
5. By participating you agree to the sharing of information about your green with the other partcipatung clubs and to the results of the project beign published in various media and project papaers.

CAN EXISTING GREENMASTER CLIENTS APPLY?

Yes, this is a competely open project where we simply want to apply a scientific approach to achieving excellence in bowls playing surfaces and then report on our findings to any interested club or association.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Once your club is accepted on to the project, we will undertake a series of tests and measurements to give us a very clear picture of how your green is performing NOW. Then we will work with you to draw up a clear view of WHERE you would like your green to be at the end of the project in terms of its playing characteristics.

We will then draw up a  comprehensive program of work aimed at acheiveing the results we have agreed woth you over a 3 year period.

IS THERE A COST?
Yes, as this project provides all of your maintenance requirements (except mowing) there will be a monthly charge to cover staffing, fuel and
materials. If you qualify and decide to participate we will give you a written specification with full costs before commencement of the project after
which you can still decide to pull out, but this will, in most cases, represent a significant saving on your current greenkeeping costs.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR MY CLUB?

The Greenkeeping Excellence Project is to our knowledge the most comprehensive and scientifically formuletd project aimed specifically at improving the playing characteristics of bowling greens. Your green is therefore guaranteed to improve to a level equivalent to tournament standard. In addition to the above, you will achieve a superior green at a very low cost indeed.
