Excellence on a Budget

As long term bowling green greenkeepers we must have heard nearly all of the best stories about improving greens. You’ve probably heard a lot of them too.

However, some things are absolutely clear:

1. Scarification reduces and controls thatch build up
2. Aeration relieves compaction and improves rooting and drainage
3. A well formulated fertiliser program improves green consistency
4. Thatch control measures relieve Localised Dry Patch Problems
5. Less thatch = less fungal disease such as fusarium
6. Control of thatch and compaction makes for a healthier green
7. Healthy greens are much less susceptible to disease
8. Healthy greens are faster and smoother to play on.
9. Healthy greens are less expensive to maintain.

All of the points above require knowledge, expertise and most of all some element of physical work to be carried out on the green. There is no substitute for a well designed and expertly implemented green management program. Click here for more detailed information
