What are the big issues in bowling today?

Please feel free to post your views, questions and comments about anything bowls related. I know from my weekly visits to bowling clubs in Central Scotland that when it comes to the green, the big questions always centre around green speed and surface consistency.
However, more and more I am finding that the discussion comes back to club related issues such as falling membership and member attraction/retention.
